Could you tell us the reason for the commercialization and the background of your request?

The Edogawa Ward Bathhouse Association works to connect the community-based public bathhouse culture to the future and to protect the "warm places" where local people gather. Edogawa Ward is one of Tokyo's areas where many traditional public bathhouses remain, and they are still loved by families, elderly people, and people who work in the neighborhood.

I myself would like as many people as possible to know about the charms of these bathhouses, so I am playing a role in promoting Edogawa Ward's public baths from the perspective of PR and branding, including character design and merchandise planning.

For the production of the goods, we once again asked Daioh Manufacturing, who has been of great help to us in the past. We trusted them based on their track record, and this time too they handled everything with care, right down to the smallest details, and we were once again impressed with the high quality of the products.

Are there any particular points you are particular about, such as material, texture, design, etc.?

The motif for this production, "Oyu no Fuji," is a character that supports public baths in Edogawa Ward, and the most important feature is the "Mount Fuji head" that is reminiscent of Sento Fuji.

Also, because even slight differences in shape and expression can greatly change the impression you get, we had to pay close attention to the balance. In particular, the artisans were very careful with the painting of the face, which gave it a warm finish and made it look even cuter than we had imagined.

How was the response from customers?

We are currently slowly selling our products at public baths in Edogawa Ward, and they have been well received not only by regular customers, but also by people who enjoy visiting public baths and fans of "Oyu no Fuji." We are also fortunate to have received inquiries from people outside the ward and from far away, and we are preparing to start selling our products online in the future so that we can reach even more people.

During the production process, we received various suggestions from a professional perspective, such as the selection of key chain parts and differences in surface finish such as glossy or matte, which helped us to get a clearer image of the finished product and give it shape. Thanks to this support, we feel that the finished product is very close to the image we had in mind during the planning stage and is very satisfying.

Edogawa's public baths are not just places to soak in the water, but also important communities where people can connect with each other and experience the local culture. We believe there will be more opportunities to produce various goods and promote them in the future so that we can widely spread the appeal of these places. We hope to consult with Daio Seisakusho again when that happens.
